Shanell Williams is Development Director for the California Student Sustainability Coalition and former Student Trustee at City College of San Francisco. She has been a public advocate for at-risk youth and working families in San Francisco for 16 years.

Sharron SK Williams was born in Belize, Central America and is a member of the Garifuna ethnic group, descendants of captured Africans who were brought to the island of St. Vincent in the Eastern Caribbean by French colonizers who later escaped their captors and lived in the mountainous region of the country as free people.  The Garifuna inhabited that island for over 100 years as maroons who integrated with the island’s indigenous population of Arawak and Carib natives.  At that time they were known as Black Caribs.

Lori Wilson is a native Californian raised on the west side of Fresno.  There she married her high school sweetheart and joined the ranks of America’s Military Families.  Together they have two beautiful children and currently reside in Suisun City.

Lori graduated from CSU, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accountancy.  While attending school, she assisted several small businesses, from retail to construction, to gain experience in her field of study.  She also saw firsthand how the decisions of local government impact the small b

Monica Wilson currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Contra Costa County Central Committee and is the Treasurer for the California Democratic Party Women’s Caucus. On the Women’s Caucus she served as the Committee Chair for the Kamala Harris Virtual Phone Bank Day of Action and a member of the Mentorship committee. She is also a member of the African American Caucus and the Progressive Caucus.

Helen Wolter currently chairs the City of Mountain View Parks and Recreation Commission, where she assists in overseeing parkland use in the densest city in Silicon Valley.

Helen Wolter currently chairs the City of Mountain View Parks and Recreation Commission, where she assists in overseeing parkland use in the densest city in Silicon Valley. Since joining the Commission, Ms. Wolter has helped guide Mountain View’s updated canopy policy, and is working to make the in-lieu fees assessed on new developments more just and equitable, as well as economically viable.  Prior to her time in Mountain View, Ms. Wolter worked in education, media and the outdoor industry.  A west coast native, she has lived in the Bay Area for over 30 years. 

Lorraine Woodruff-Long is the Executive Director of the San Francisco Police Activities League (PAL) which provides 5,000 city youth with sports, recreation and leadership activities under the guidance of 800 volunteers.  From 2005-2008 Lorraine served as the Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools, a network of parent leaders working to ensure quality public schools for all San Francisco children. Under her leadership, PPS-SF grew into a trilingual organization serving and supporting more than 10,000 families annually through parent-to-parent training, counseling, and leadership development.

Tiffany Woods is a wife, mother of three, trans woman, photographer, filmmaker, and longtime community organizer, who came out over 27 years ago in San Francisco. A nationally recognized LGBT Leader and an At Large Delegate to the DNC for Hillary Clinton in 2016, she is one of the first three  trans delegates to ever attend the Democratic National Convention from California in 2016.  She is the first trans person to run for district delegate in CA-13, Rep. Barbara Lee’s district in 2016.

Barri Worth Girvan is a proud leader from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.  She has committed her career to serving as staff to strong Democrats, including Senator Bob Hertzberg, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and Assemblymember Lloyd Levine, and currently works as District Director in the California State Senate.

Jamie Wright is an attorney who is a consultant and independent contractor for multiple small businesses, athletes, entertainers and corporate entities. As an attorney she manages her clients’ legal departments as well as engages in new business development for the organization, individual or corporations.

I moved to Malaysia at a young age and returned to California at the age of 16. Being an ESL, I chose to attend community college. At the age of 17, I ran for Student Body President at Norco College.

I became involved in Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) and was later appointed as the Regional Secretary. During my tenure at Norco College and SSCCC, I established textbook scholarships for those from low-income family. I also gave out free bus passes to students.

Sabina was born and raised in Pakistan and comes from a family of political leaders. Her earliest political inspiration was her father who served as a federal minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. She met Benazir Bhutto on several occasions who inspired her immensely as a woman leader and served as a role model.

Sabina moved to the US in her early twenties and graduated with a degree in Computer and Information Sciences and has been working in technology for the last 14 years. She has lived in Alabama, Arizona and California.

Appointed by the Mayor, I currently serve on the Planning Commission in Garden Grove. I ran for school board in 2008. I'm involved in local politics with different groups and organizations such my City's Chamber of Commerce, LULAC, CIVIC GG.

I am a professional freelance interpreter and have worked in such capacity since 2011.
I am the third oldest of ten children and the first in my family to graduate from college. While holding a full time job, I put myself through college which took me about ten years to complete.

Supervisor Zane has over 25 years of experience working in health and human services as a family therapist, minister, hospital chaplain, special education educator, and inner city social worker. She holds a master of arts (M.A.) degree in theology from Chicago Trinity Divinity School and an M.A. in family counseling from Sonoma State University.

She has served on a number of boards and commissions, including the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) Elderly and Disabled Advisory Committee.

Marlene Zapata has a diverse professional background in politics, education, nonprofits, and government.

Marlene Zapata has a diverse professional background in politics, education, nonprofits, and government. Currently, she works at The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation supporting a portfolio of grants under the Nuclear Security and Cyber Initiatives as well as working with the Performing Arts Program. Previously, she was a Legislative Aide in the Florida House of Representatives where she analyzed public policy and assisted in the drafting of state legislation. Prior to becoming a Legislative Aide, she served as a Commission Aide at the City of Miami Beach.

My family and I moved to the City due to my then five-year-old daughter had a major illness and needed constant care at UCSF Children's Hospital. Since then, I found that the Asian and Chinese immigrants in the City did not have a voice.

Since then, I found that the Asian and Chinese immigrants in the City did not have a voice, and they were bullied. I started to volunteer for SPOSF (http://smallprop.org), and then founded AsianAmericanVoters.org, later co-founded BetterHousingPolicies.org, to educate and advocate for my fellow neighbors, friends and those in need. Now our organization has grown to over 1600 followers and 400 volunteers.

Katie Zoglin has been a lawyer for over 25 years and has devoted her career to public service.  Katie worked as a Deputy District Attorney in Santa Clara County, where she prosecuted domestic violence, assaults, robberies, and other crimes.  As a Deputy County Counsel in Santa Clara County, Katie represented senior citizens who were victims of predatory lending and financial fraud.

I am a Homecare Provider by trade and a Union activist/organizer by accident! I am a mother of 5 one of whom has Severe Autism and 7 grandchildren. I have a background in Life/Disability Insurance Sales, but became a provider for my son which lead me to getting involved with my Union.

From which at the time I had no idea that it would send me on a whole other journey into politics. I never imagined being able to speak in front of people, or lobbying legislatures or becoming a leader and mentor to others.
